You Wouldn't Believe It

Check out this picture!! Can you believe it!?! Ok, so I didn't actually meet Johnny Depp, but I got to hang out with his wax double. I guess it's the next best thing. Today we went to the Ripley's Believe It Or Not museum which also houses a wax museum and house of mirrors. First we went into the Ripley's part and the girls really didn't like that. I thought the museum was a lot of fun and interesting but the girls just thought the whole thing was scary. Emma kept saying "take me to the exit". I guess through a child's eye a statue of the tallest man or the guy who had a horn out the back of his head may be a little creepy. When we finished there we went into the wax museum. That was a lot of fun and less scary for the girls. They still were a little creeped out with the wax people and wouldn't go near any of them, but at least they weren't near tears the whole time. The funniest part was when we went to the hall of presidents and I told Emma that's where we were and she asked where president Hinkley was. She is too cute. She saw Dr Phil and said "mom, that guy looks like Dr Phil. She also took one look at the wax Jesus and said "they didn't do him very good". I guess he didn't look like the Jesus she knows. Last we headed over to the house of mirrors. It was pretty dark in there even though the pictures are lighted by the flash. The girls had a great time in there and me and Dan had a great time laughing at Hannah for running in the mirrors head on again and again.

My Filthy Habit

I have a filthy habit. I guess not so much filthy as messy(and may I add, not very healthy). I like to drink large quantities of soda. Yep, I'm that lady you see at the gas station filling up her 150 oz drink. Anyway, when you are always carrying that amount of liquid in your car you are bound to spill. I can not tell you how many times I've spilled a full soda on the floor of the front seat of my car. And, it is a bugger to clean up, soda doesn't just come right up. Every time I do I curse (not really, if you know me you know I say stupid things like "gosh golly darn it") and swear that I am going to stop my filthy habit. So the other day I was driving around in my rental car when the inevitable happened. My large soda lurched forward and spilled all over my feet and floor of the car. I hurried to the closest gas station and tried to throw out as much of the ice as I could (I know they guy next to me was wondering what in the heck I was doing) then had to use my beach towel to dry up the mess. I couldn't quite clean it up as well as I should of being on the road with only a beach towel, so now I'm just hoping when I return the car that they don't notice anything weird (like a stain or a swarm of bees) and charge me a fee. I really need to quit this filthy habit, please send me some encouraging words or horror stories that will help me quit. (Or you could just slap me randomly when you see me and tell me 'you know why')

Cash For Gold

As the girls have been watching TV at night to settle in for bed Emma has noticed (and it isn't hard they run them every five minutes) commercials for Cash For Gold. I've seen one or two back home but wow, they really advertise it here. Anyway, I find it funny that Emma is really fascinated by it. She keeps telling me "mom you just send them your gold and they send you money" and "then they put it in the oven and melt it". There is really no point to this post except the fact that it makes me laugh because Emma KEEPS talking about it.

Fort Worth Zoo

Today we went to the Fort Worth Zoo. I know, I know, didn't we already go to a zoo? Yes, but everyone (ok mainly just my valet buddy) was telling me about how the Fort Worth Zoo was so much better than the Dallas Zoo and that I needed to go. Not to mention, today was half off day so we all got in for only $10. Anyway, I'm glad I made the 30 mile trip out to Fort Worth. And since I am on the subject of Fort Worth I must tell you that the whole city is under construction. It's really weird. Every street I went down they were tearing things down and building new things. Anyway again, the zoo was great. It's one of the top five in the country. It was very well shaded everywhere and we got to get closer to the animals. Although my feet are killing me from all the walking, pulling and pushing kids, I am having a great time.

By the end of the day Hannah starts to get like this

JFK Memorial

About 5 blocks from hour hotel is the road where JFK was shot. They have a memorial set up and a museum. We haven't made it into the museum yet but here are some pictures that we took. It was really cool being somewhere that such a big event in history happened.

The X in the road is exactly where it happened

The grassy knoll
The window where Lee Harvey Oswald took the shots (far right second from the top)
The memorial
