August 2012

Is it just me, or did August fly by??  I honestly cannot believe that the month is over and along with it, summer vacation.  I had such a fun summer hanging out with my girls, I couldn't imagine spending it any other way.  I will miss having my little girls with me all of the time, but it will be nice to have some sort of a schedule again.  Summer means chaos, and I loved it!

One day we called up Papa Taylor and asked if he'd like to go mini golfing with us.  It was so hot we didn't stay long, but we had a good time.

The girls and Papa Taylor

Nikki asked me to take some pictures of Cole and Kwinton J for their birthdays in August.  They were all so cute, I had to post a few of my favorites!

We had the Hastings Family Reunion in August and spend a few days with the family checking out some cool stuff around town.

The first day we started by heading up the canyon to have lunch.

Ben, Sydnee and Hannah

Later that day was Cole and Kwinton J's birthday party.  They rented a cool waterslide and the kids had a great time!

I thought this would be a great gift for Cole

Jeffy got a catapult, just what he needs (don't ask about the weird face, he just can't seem to smile)

See how cute their wanted pictures turned out!!

Kayson and Amber

That night we met up with the Hastings again to have a family swim at the Kearns pool.  My girls LOVE swimming and thought this was the best thing ever!
Emma was getting brave and jumping in the pool. (Yes, I know she is in her life jacket, we need to get her into swimming lessons asap)

The next morning we met up with the Hastings again at the Thanksgiving Point gardens.  It was such a beautiful day for this.

The next morning we met up for our last day of the family reunion.  We had a wonderful breakfast at Brian and Kristy's and then headed up to the Planetarium.

This year we decided to do the Parade of Homes once again.  This house was the biggest one in the parade. It was fun to be able to take a look inside.

August is Nikki's, Meg's and my Mom's birthdays.  We decided this year that for their birthdays we would do a ropes course down in Provo.  It was such a fun day!  We spent the morning canoeing then did the ropes course after lunch.  Oh, and there were NO kids! hehe
Chris might need a bigger life jacket

Chris being Tarzan

I know, we are nerds!

Trying to cross without touching

Just moments before my dad hurt his knee

Time to do the zipline

Up Dan goes

Nice hat mom!

The giant swing.  Meg let out an awesome yell.

The leap of faith.  Nikki captioned this photo as "my mom is cooler than yours" and I totally agree!

Kwinton caught the ring on the leap of failth

Go dad!

Nikki crosses the log

I do a Mario jump

Yikes!

Meg loves when I take awesome pictures of her and post them on my blog.  This one is for you Meg!

Kwinton doesn't need to jump with those long legs

Nikki was scared

I'm heading up for the second, taller leap of faith

I made it down alive

Chris at the top, ready to jump

Nikki is deciding if she wants to jump

She does!

Happy Birthday Meg, Mom & Nikki!!

The weekend before school started we went to Yuba lake with our neighbors.  Have I mentioned a million times that we love living where we do and are grateful for all the friends we've made?  We had such a great time hanging out with friends and playing on the boat.

Dan found someone's shorts

I decided to try the knee board . . .

. . .and I crashed.

Then I tried a few times more and finally got up!

Dan tried the knee board too . . .

. . .and crashed.

Look at those cute girls!

Dan barfing in the bushes after the boat ride.  He had a rough weekend trying to pass kidney stones and feeling nauseous.

Emma's turn on the tubes

She got some air!

Hannah's turn

Look how happy that face is!

Derek even let them drive the boat

Wow!  I can't believe the summer break is done.  Although I am getting excited for fall, I love fall!  We are all so grateful for the fun times we get to have with all of our families and friends.  We are so lucky!!
