May was another eventful month for us. We actually took a vacation that was not planned around Dan's work. We made plans a few months ago to spend a week in San Antonio. Why San Antonio? I'm not exactly sure. I just know that I love Texas, I picked the place, and we had a great time!
Arriving in San Antonio
Beautiful cathedral
The Riverwalk
On that same cathedral they played a laser show at night. It was very cool to see!
Eating taco's from a taco truck at midnight
We stopped by Ripley's and the wax museum
Emma has some strange friends
So cute!
Yikes!
The wax museum was horrible! We couldn't help but laugh at this wax figure of Oprah with a super small head!!
The Riverwalk again. We ate at that restaurant with the umbrellas.
We took a boat tour on the Riverwalk
Saint Antonio himself
My dad found a new hat
Us girls had fun taking pictures jumping
We visited the Alamo (not sure what's up with Hannah's grumpy face)
Hello from the Alamo!
Then we visited a few more of the missions in San Antonio
I love the trees in Texas! I want them in my yard.
The San Jose mission was my favorite
They all had beautiful churches
I want to build my own compound based on the San Jose mission!
We went to many Mexican restaurants and ate many flautas. This is the restaurant where Hannah told us that the water tasted like it was unfiltered. Haha! We all had a good laugh at her first world problems.
Market square was a fun place for shops
Check out this dessert
Getting ready to head up into the Tower of the Americas
Such a great view!!
It was rather windy up there!
Sea World San Antonio
The kids loved the rides
They didn't like getting soaked on the water ride
Shamu!
I really wasn't too impressed by the San Antonio Sea World. Not sure that I would do it again.
The girls wanted a Whataburger
We made a trip up to Austin for a day. They have some interesting neighborhoods.
We found a fun candy store
Eating our treats
We found a place that sold giant doughnuts
And this is what Dan got. A doughnut covered in peanut butter, bananas, and bacon. It was called the Fat Elvis. Dan said it changed his life, but he didn't know if it was for better or worse. Hahahaha!
Texas state capitol
It was massive and beautiful
And there was a birthday party for Buddha going on! You don't see that every day.
That night we headed back to San Antonio and had dinner on the Riverwalk again and watched a parade float by on the river.
Such a fun trip!! Even though Emma told me toward the end that she didn't want to learn one more thing about Texas history, I know the girls had a great time too. I'm glad we got to take a trip where Dan wasn't working.
When we got back home we spent the last week of May watching a few end of year dance recitals.
Emma's school recital
Both of the girls dance recital - so cute!
Alright, now we will take a breath and head into June.
